He tells them his name was Jeremiah & the First Settlers people say they must have the wrong family. Later Granny says to him that she knows he fibbed,but Jed likes the simple life & things get back to normal.

She also finds evidence that Jed's ancestors came to America prior to the arrival of the Mayflower. She ropes Mrs. Drysdale's into helping with chores done the old way, to Mrs. Drysdale's horror.

Philip Hedden and Sgt. Davey McCain. Eliot Ness and his men are out to pin the murder attempt on Hedden, since the hitmen were driving one of his cars.
